Influenced chef-owner Lisa Astorga-Watel’s travels, Bite specializes in delicious fare from around the world that will have you questioning all culinary rules. Cotton candy in your mimosa? She went there. A lamb egg roll that looks just like a cigar? Let’s do it. Think, an intimate 12-table atmosphere with booming pops of colors and art that has you wanting to bring out your own paint and palette. CHEF'S BIO

Lisa Astorga-Watel, Owner and General Manager

Chef Lisa Astorga-Watel grew up in Santiago, Chile before moving to Houston, Texas, where she attended The Art Institute of Houston. She went on to have a successful career as a private chef for celebrities, such as Tommy Lee Jones, whom she cooked for for more than eight years. Lisa is married to Damien Watel, who also is a chef in town. The two quickly became a food power couple as Damien also owns and operates another well-known San Antonio favorite, Chez Vatel Bistro. The couple has one son named Enzo. 

Bite’s eclectic '70's modern twist' on its dishes is directly influenced by chef Astorga-Watel's travels around the globe. When she isn’t behind the kitchen door, she loves to travel the world to gain more culinary influence, partake in fitness activities and get her groove on to Latin music and maybe even some Bruno Mars.

A small nine table restaurant known for its fun food, funky cocktails, eclectic wines, and great service. Bite’s chef, Lisa Astorga-Watel, is breaking boundaries with dishes like lamb cigars and mimosa cotton candy skewers.
